Who can apply?

  • Minimum ADC rating
  • Not having been a member of XB for at least 12 months (to avoid people going elsewhere but trying to keep privileges – can be waived in specific cases)
  • Clean history suspension for at least 1 year (can be waived, for instance if it’s just one sandbagging occurrence)

How to apply?

    • VID
    • Full name
    • Clear and precise motivations
    • Confirmation that the applicant has read and understood the regulations

  • If still positive, the applicant will have to follow specific courses in the online school
  • After the online school courses, he will have to perform a checkout with an instructor, which has to be seen as a kind of “refresher” on ADC/APC/ACC exam.
  • If the training department approves, the applicant gets his GCA

Regulations

    1. Application
1.1. The applicant must hold at least the ADC rating before applying.
1.2. The applicant may not have been a member of IVAO Belux region in the past 12
      months.
1.3. The applicant must feature a clean suspension history for the last 12 months.
1.4. The division HQ can in exceptional circumstances waive rules 1.2 and under clear motivations and explanations of the applicant.
    2. Assessment and checkout
2.1. If the application meets the requirements of rules 1.x, the applicant is expected to complete all online courses in the “IVAO Belux Online School” relevant for the ATC position.
2.2. If the applicant succeeds in the given courses, he has to undergo a practical checkout with an instructor. If he fails, his GCA request is automatically declined.
2.3. The checkout is based on the standards of an ADC, APC or ACC exam, but with a simple “go/no-go” criteria (no markings). It assesses the general skills on the position + the knowledge of the local procedures and specificities.
2.4. An ADC-rated applicant will do the checkout as EBBR_TWR, also in charge of GND and DEL.
2.5. An APC-rated applicant will perform an APC checkout, where he will handle EBBR_APP, also in charge of EBCI_APP.
2.6. An ACC-rated applicant will perform a checkout on EBBU_CTR, in charge of all unstaffed positions (including GND/TWR/APP) in the FIR.
2.7. In case of a failure on the checkout, the staff will decide whether a second chance should be given. If not, the GCA is denied.
    3. General regulations for GCA holders
3.1. A GCA holder is expected to perform a minimum average of 2 hours of control per month, on the highest position he is allowed to handle.
3.2. If condition 3.1 is not met, the staff can remove the GCA, impose a new checkout or simply warn the GCA holder.
3.3. GCA holders must follow carefully the regulations and procedures of the XB division. The member is asked to join the Discord server of the division, where the member will be assigned specific rights.
3.4. The positions a GCA holder can handle correspond to the positions any XB member of the same rating can handle according to the FRAs, except if there are limitations according to rule 2.7.
3.5. If new FRAs or requirements apply, the GCA holder will also have to adapt to these.
3.6. If the GCA holder gains a higher rating in his/her division, the member can either apply for a GCA upgrade (according to rules 2.5 and 2.6) or remain with a restricted GCA, based on the previous rating.
3.7. Any GCA holder misbehaving may be removed from his/her GCA anytime by the division HQ. Misbehaviour include among other things: not following the procedures established by IVAO Belux, not following the instructions of the appropriate staff members (ATC ops, Training department, division HQ…), not keeping the skills/knowledge up-to-date, lacking of respect towards any member, pilot or staff member, getting a suspension.
3.8. A GCA holder can ask for the removal of his/her GCA. In this case, the member won’t be able to apply again for at least 12 months.
3.9. If the staff removes the GCA to a member due to inactivity, the member can re-apply after 6 months, with clear explanations. If the GCA is removed for any other reasons such as the article 3.7, the member can’t re-apply before 12 months.
